•382 2nd batch Nasarawa pilgrims arrive

Jigawa State Pilgrims Welfare Board has
disclosed that only 727 out of 1,472 Pilgrim
seats allocated to the state by the National Hajj
Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) had completed
their payment at the moment.

This is about 50 percent of the total seats
allocated to the state by NAHCON will be
occupied. The commission had extended the
deadline of registration for the third time and by
one week which ended on Wednesday July 25.
This was disclosed by the Executive Secretary,
Alhaji Sani Alhassan while speaking with
Vanguard in his office Wednesday.
He also stated that the board has completed
arrangements for the 2018 hajj operation.
“We have already completed our preparation,
we have remitted N858 million to the NAHCON.
With about 28 centres across the state, we have
concluded vaccination, distribution of uniform
and bags to our intending Pilgrims, but the
training is on”, he explained.
He advised the 727 intending pilgrims who have
already completed full payments to prepare their
minds on performing an acceptable hajj
operation and desist from anything that could
tanish the image of Nigeria and the host
country, Saudi Arabia.
Also, the board´s Public Relations Officer,
Comrade Ibrahim Kanya said the board has also
distributed relevant books and barges to the
intending Pilgrims in the state.
He further called on those who are yet to
complete their payment to do so immediately,
adding that the board has completed
arrangements for the 2018 hajj operation.

Meanwhile, the second batch of Nasarawa State
pilgrims comprising of 245 males and 135
females arrived Madinah, Saudi Arabia on
Wednesday. They were airlifted by Max Air
limited.
The arrival of 382 pilgrims in the Holy land had
increased the number of Nigerian pilgrims to
828, since the first batch from Kogi landed on
Friday.
They were received on arrival by officials of the
various committees of the National Hajj
Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) who
immediately conveyed them to their hotels.
